Glen Ellyn Community Awards: Skuddlebutts Named Business of the Year

When the Glen Ellyn Community Awards were announced and Business of the Year was presented to Skuddlebutts Pizza & Catering it came as quite a surprise to the owners.

The awards were given out in a number of categories, including Business of the Year. Owners Steve Adams and Danny Glover said receiving the award was a great accomplishment as a new business in the area.

“It makes Steve and I feel good to be recognized by the community,” Glover said.

The Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce and the Village Fair Committee have joined together to present the Community Awards again this year, said Mike Formento, executive director, Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce.  The awards have been presented since 1963 to recognize those individuals and organizations who have provided outstanding contributions to the community.

Skuddlebutts opened in Glen Ellyn in 2011. The restaurant's menu offers a variety of items including pizza, burgers, soups and sandwiches. It also offers catering.

The business has been successful in Glen Ellyn in part because of its catering, Glover said.

“We try to be as involved as possible in every event. We have great food, and we feel that our service is unmatchable,” he said.

Being a part of the community may have helped the business earn the honor, Glover said.

“We have been trying to be involved within the community as much as possible,” he said. “We are sponsors of many programs in the area, and partners with many local non for profits for fundraisers and events.”
