Area residents can now find a free electric vehicle charging station at Carol Stream Park District's Fountain View Fitness, thanks to Joe Cotton Ford of Carol Stream. While the government offers grants to aid in the cost of installation, roughly $2,500 goes unfunded. The donation is meant to offer residents peace of mind when purchasing and driving electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid models. "We want our friends and family to feel comfortable coming to the park and going grocery shopping in plug-in and electric vehicles, all while contributing to a cleaner environment for our community," said Paul Cotton, general manager. Over the next six months, Joe Cotton Ford plans to donate $2,500 toward the installation of four more charging stations around the community. Ford plug-in hybrid customers drive 203,000 electric-only miles a day.
