Firehouse Subs to Open Soon at The Fresh Market Center Development

The sub shop was founded by firemen and has over 700 locations nationwide.

The Fresh Market Center development will soon have a new tenant. 

Firehouse Subs will open a 2,230-square foot store on March 10 at the development, which is anchored by the newly-opened Fresh Market grocery store, according to a Opus Group spokeswoman. The Fresh Market, a brand new, European-style gourmet grocery store opened at 285 Roosevelt Road at the end of February and occupies 23,790 square feet of The Fresh Market Center development. 

Firehouse Subs, which will be located at 279 Roosevelt Road, specialize in hot subs and submarine sandwiches made with premium meats and cheeses, according to Firehouse Subs website.

The sub shop was founded by firemen and has over 700 locations nationwide, including several in the Chicago suburbs and one currently located at 272 Danada Square West in Wheaton. 

The Opus Group recently signed the lease with Firehouse Subs. Other tenants at the Fresh Market Center development include Great Clips and Tide Dry Cleaners, occupying 1,050 and 2,800 square feet, respectively.

“This project has been a great opportunity to partner with the village of Glen Ellyn and bring quality retailers to the area,” said Sean Spellman, vice president and general manager of Opus Development Company, L.L.C., in a press release. “The location is ideal to serve the Glen Ellyn and North Wheaton communities.”

Located on E. Roosevelt Road between S. Lorraine Road and S. Lambert Road, the new retail center includes patio seating and 186 customer parking spaces. This is The Fresh Market’s ninth store in the state and will bring approximately 90 new jobs to the area.
