Dry City Brew Works Reaches Fundraising Goal to Open in Wheaton

The new brewery reached its fundraising goal, with $16,582 pledged to help it open in downtown Wheaton.

With $16,582 pledged in support, Dry City Brew Works announced it officially has enough funds to open in Wheaton this summer.

The brewery plans to open on Main Street downtown and will offer a variety of craft beers, including the Wheaton Grand Theater "MiracAle," the "Wheat(on)" American Wheat Ale and the Providence Coffee Milk Stout, brewed with coffee from River City Roasters.

The name "Dry City Brew Works" is a nod to the City of Wheaton, which banned alcohol sales in 1887 and issued its first liquor license almost 100 years later. In addition to selling locally brewed beer, Dry City will also offer a tasting room where customers can try their offerings.

Dry City Brew Works will be a family operation staffed by Ben and Jessica Sampson and Sampson's parents, Dave and Lori Carr of Glen Ellyn, according to the Daily Herald

"We're trying to do something different to bring a younger crowd downtown and revitalize it a little bit," Ben Sampson told the Herald.
