Downtown Glen Ellyn Offers 3 Big Events to Get You Through the Winter Doldrums

Indoor sidewalk sale, Restaurant Week and a Glen Ellyn Spa Hop will bridge the gap between winter and spring.

It's the time of year when the doldrums set in. The holidays are over, but the cold and snow are only just beginning. Are you bored? Sad? In need of a little retail therapy?

Alliance of Downtown Glen Ellyn has organized three events that just might provide a cure.

Indoor Sidewalk Sale

The indoor sidewalk sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25.  The sale includes a central location filled with many different shops, , at 476 N. Main St., but many boutiques also will offer sales in their own locations. Some shops will only take cash, so come prepared.

“It is so exciting to be expanding the sale," said Carol White, executive director of the Alliance. "Shopping this weekend is a must for many amazing deals. Grab your girlfriends and come spend the day. You will be thrilled with your finds!”

Ralph Costello, of Costello’s Jewelry Co., is offering his 3,600-square-foot property as headquarters for the event. Participating retailers include M and Em’s, AliKat, Marcel Culinary Experience, Ten Thousand Villages, Renaissance Art Studio, Enchantments, P.S. Flowers, Fuschia, Anastazia, Costello Jewelry Company, Paisley on Main, Bird on a Wire, Papier Girl, Fabulous Me, P.S. Flowers and Young’s Appliances.

Glen Ellyn Restaurant Week

Pick up a punch card the first time you dine at any participating restaurant. Dine at five of the 10 and you can enter to win one of 20 dining gift certificates and discount cards. Just have the restaurant punch the card each time you dine, breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Spa Hop

Spa Hop returns to downtown Glen Ellyn Tuesday, Feb. 11, this year with more options for both women and men.

Are you deserving of a little R&R? Need a boost? Want to spend a day with friends? Spa Hop is a sampling of many different services. Men and women can visit spahop.downtownglenellyn.com to schedule services (three per person maximum).

New this year: More options, longer appointments and new businesses. Choose from hundreds of appointments either 10, 20 or 30 minutes, at a fraction of the cost of a typical appointment. This year, men’s services will be offered at Glen Ellyn's new barber shop, Punch.

For the ladies, how about a flat iron style or sexy waves? Perhaps it is time to try someone new for an eyebrow or lip wax. Maybe a facials, skin analysis, cut and color, manicure or makeup consultation is what the doctor ordered. Space is limited, so sign up soon.

Participating salons are: Cosmos Beauty Bar, Cheveux Salon & Day Spa, Escape Salon & Spa, Jazz Salon, Linea Hair Salon & Day Spa, Namaste, Salon Estem, Therapeutic Connections, Aesthetics By Juliette, Chicago Spa Parties, The Yoga Place, Geri G., Aesthetician, Certified Holistic Practitioner and Punch barber shop.
