New Metra Coffee Shop Owners Promise Local Fare

It's all about being local.

As a local legend  by passing her coffee shop onto new owners, Metra commuters can expect more local fare at Next Stop Coffee Shop.

Remember ? Craig Yerly and his wife, Joy, recently purchased the coffee shop inside Glen Ellyn's Metra station from longtime owner Dotty Flicek. They know they have some big shoes to fill but they're excited to bring more options and local favorites to commuters during the early morning rush.

Commuters can now nibble on muffins, scones and breakfast bars from and tea from Serene Teaz located in neighboring Wheaton. Like Honey, Next Stop Coffee Shop will brew Metropolis coffee which is roasted in Chicago by a father and son duo.

The Yerlys are all about being local because Craig says,

"Why not offer things within the community particularly during these harder times where it would be cheaper to go the Costco or Sam's Club route. But we decided by helping other locals we, in turn, all help each other out," said Craig.

In fact, the Yearlys went as far as obtaining a business loan from a local bank. And, the two new business owners already know how they will bring in local vendors when the seasons change. During cold weather they'll feature warm oatmeal from Brainy Oats, a business based out of West Chicago.

The Yearlys know that most commuters will purchase their products because of the speed and convenience. But the Yerlys believe riders will appreciate more than just the immediacy.

"I think people like a sense of community," said Craig.

The biggest adjustment for the Yerlys will be adjusting their body clocks to waking up at 4 a.m.

"I'm anxious to get everything in place and to get a routine down."
