Business Comings and Goings: New Yogurt Shop Opens, Mykha's Closes

What's new in local business? A new yogurt shop has opened it's doors offering a healthy treat for Glen Ellyn diners.

Yogurt shop opens

We may be entering fall, but it will always be summertime at one new Glen Ellyn business.

SkinnySweet Frozen Yogurt, owned by the husband and wife team of Marianne Cielak-Boyke and Brett Boyke, is now open in Market Plaza.

The couple announced in mid-April that the business would be opening in Glen Ellyn.
The Boyke’s chose Glen Ellyn in part because they felt young families would enjoy a healthy treat, which SkinnySweet provides. The yogurt shop offers 100 different yogurt flavors, with 14 flavors rotating daily, according to the website

SkinnySweet also offers non-fat, low-fat, premium, greek, no-sugar-added, and non-dairy sorbet flavors, according to the company. With a few exceptions, most of the products are gluten-free. The sorbet offerings are also non-dairy and vegetarian. None of the yogurt contains high-fructose corn syrup. And, the yogurt is also Kosher certified.

Another aspect to the business is that it is a big believer in giving back to community and has an application online, which will allow local organizations to apply. At the end of an event, the store donates 20 percent of the net proceeds to the organization.

Restaurant closes

Long-time Glen Ellyn restaurant Mykha’s has closed its doors. The restaurant served its last meals on Sept. 7, according to the Facebook page.

Some regular diners to the restaurant were surprised to hear the restaurant had closed. A commenter on Glen Ellyn Patch’s Facebook page said she thought the closing was to take place in October, but it has happened much sooner than anticipated.

Carol White, executive director of the Alliance of Downtown Glen Ellyn, said she didn’t have any details as to why the business had closed, but said she had enjoyed Mykha’s “delicious food.”

“I do know she will be missed,” White said.
