Auto Donations Urgently Needed for Homeless Families

Donate your car to Bridge Communities to help a homeless family in DuPage County.

Auto donations are urgently needed for families throughout DuPage County in Bridge Communities’ Transitional Housing Program.

“We always need cars, but we need them now more than ever,” stresses Bridge Program Director Karen Stewart.  “As of today, we have six families in need of safe, reliable transportation.”

Stewart explains that Bridge Communities almost never sells donated cars for cash; most cars donated to Bridge are thoroughly inspected and repaired by a local auto repair shop and are then given to Bridge families who need safe, reliable transportation.  Only cars beyond reasonable repair are sold, with the funds going to Bridge Communities.

“This is a great time of year to donate, because if you donate by December 31, you can claim the donation on this year’s tax return.  Your tax write-off becomes someone else’s lifeline to a job and ultimately a better future.”

Bridge client families need to get to work to earn money and put away savings; they need to get their kids to and from school and activities to maintain stability in their otherwise stressful young lives; and they need to travel to the grocery store and Laundromat at least once a  week.
