The new book by the creator of Harry Potter is aiming this book at a grown-up audience.

The Bookstore’s owner Jane Stroh said she is still awaiting her copies of the book and they should arrive Wednesday in time for the release.

“I was very uncertain about the response, so I wasn’t sure if we’d have 50 people or 500 people order. So we started taking pre-orders. I would guess I have less than 20 pre-orders. I will have more than enough books to fill my pre-orders,” Stroh said. “I am anxious to see how it sells, because typically there are preview copies out and about, but because of who she is nobody knows anything."

More than 2 million hardcover copies of Rowling's first adult novel are set to be released simultaneously in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Germany.

The hardcover book is selling for $35, a price that is not typical for fiction, Stroh said. It’s not unusual for nonfiction books to sell at that price. Stroh expects it to be a “hefty book” and attributes the price to Rowling’s name and background.

A lot of people are waiting to hear more about the book, since it’s an adult book and not a kid’s book, Stroh said.

According to USA Today, the story is set in the little English town of Pagford, and revolves around an election held after a member of the parish council unexpectedly dies. Despite the Miss Marple terrain, press materials describe The Casual Vacancy  as "blackly comic … Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty facade is a town at war."
