Visionary Architect Special Speaker at Combined Community Associates November Lecture

The Community Associates of The Art Institute of Chicago will hold their annual Combined Lecture on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Art Institute's Rubloff Auditorium.  Speaker for the event is Jeanne Gang, Visionary Architect.

Architect Jeanne Gang is the founder and principal of Studio Gang Architects, an international practice based in Chicago.  Driven by curiosity, intelligence, and radical creativity, Jeanne has produced some of today's most innovative and award winning architecture.  The transformative potential of her work is exemplified by recent projects such as the Aqua Tower, Lincoln Park Zoo South Pond, and Columbia College Chicago's Media Production Center.  As her rapidly growing practice approaches its 14th year, Jeanne continues to pursue creating architecture that "reclaims the notion that thrilling and beautiful form can emerge out of the realm of the practical," as New Yorker critic Paul Goldberger described Aqua.  She is one of the  winners of the 2011 MacArthur Fellows given by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. The annual list of her vision for new projects makes this program a not-to-be-missed event Guests are invited.  Reservations are required.  For information call 312-443-3629.
