The Drama of Good Friday Presented at Grace Evening Service

April 6, Good Friday Evening, Grace Lutheran Church’s worship service offers a drama depicting the crucifixion of Jesus.  Grace is located at 493 Forest Avenue in downtown Gen Ellyn.  This special worship begins at 7:00 P.M.  The production does not involve scenery or costumes.  The actors will be dressed in all black or white and the action is portrayed almost as a slow-motion film.  Grace Music Director, Jean Spyksma developed this concept and is producer as well as director of this spiritual experience.

Besides the drama, the service includes an echo scripture presentation and an octet  singing acappella choral music appropriate to the passion of Christ.  The atmosphere will be dark and the congregation and guests will leave in silence.  The scripture is based on Matthew, Chapter  26: verses 36 to 46.

The seven men in the Good Friday drama are:  Matt Fenske, (Jesus), Rob Margetts, Tim Shaffer, Dominic LoGalbo and Andy Swiston (soldiers), James Jacobson and Charlie Ortman (forming the human cross).  The portrayal involves synchronized movements to the music of the old spiritual, “Were You There.”  For information call the Grace Church office at 630-469-1555.
