Reception and Book Signing with Melanie Benjamin

The Bookstore is hosting a reception and book signing with Glen Ellyn author Melanie Benjamin on Tuesday, August 16th at 7pm to celebrate her new book, The Autobiography of Mrs. Tom Thumb. Complimentary beverages and snacks will be served. Please call (630) 469-2891 or email justbook475@yahoo.com to register.

Melanie's new novel is the fascinating story of Mercy Lavinia ("Vinnie") Bump, a woman who was only 2 feet 8 inches tall, but who lived a very large life in the era of the Civil War. Melanie's thorough research pops off the page as Vinnie enters the sleazy world of riverboat "freak shows" and then the grander world of the famous showman P.T. Barnum and his star Tom Thumb.

Vinnie's wedding to Tom Thumb captivated the nation and preempted the front page news in the middle of the Civil War. Their fame took them around the world and into the company of presidents, queens and the highest of New York society.

Those who enjoyed Melanie's first book of historical fiction, Alice I Have Been, will be thrilled with this new book. Melanie has captured the voice of yet another fascinating woman of history. It is an "irresistible epic of a heroine who conquered the country with a heart as big as her dreams—and whose story will surely win over yours."

The book is available at The Bookstore now. Read more about it at www.justthebookstore.com or Melanie Benjamin's website at www.melaniebenjamin.com. If you are unable to attend the event but wish to have a book signed, please call or email The Bookstore and they will make the arrangements for you.
