Glen Ellyn Holiday Walk 2011

Kick off the holiday season at the annual Holiday Walk with the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce!

On Friday, November 25th, Glen Ellyn’s downtown will come alive with thousands of villagers gathered to eagerly countdown Santa’s arrival and watch the magical lighting of the big Christmas tree at the corner of Main Street and Crescent Boulevard, held at 6:00 p.m.  Santa then travels to the Glen Ellyn Fire Station #1 at Main Street and Pennsylvania Avenue to greet the children until 8:30 p.m. 

Downtown store windows will be artfully decorated in this year’s theme of “Holiday Greetings from Glen Ellyn” for the annual window decorating contest.  Can you spot all of the award ribbons in the winning windows as you stroll through the streets, doing a little window shopping, making your holiday lists and checking them twice?

You can spend the entire day after Thanksgiving in downtown Glen Ellyn with your friends and family. Shops and restaurants throughout the downtown will be open all day and staying open late to offer treats for holiday shoppers. Skip the fast foods and crowds at malls or big box stores, and opt for the personalized service provided on a wide variety of unique merchandise at your local shops and the freshly prepared meals in your friendly downtown Glen Ellyn restaurants.

The Glen Art Theatre and the Chamber will be presenting free children’s holiday-themed movies beginning at 10:30 a.m. on November 25th and continuing on Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. into December. 

The Chamber welcomes you to their Holiday Open House held during the Holiday Walk from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m.  Located in the space west of Two Toots Restaurant at 515 Crescent Boulevard, be sure to stop in to warm up with refreshments and enjoy special performances by the Glenbard South Madrigal Singers and Elite Feet Dance Studio.
