First Church of Glen Ellyn Invites Music Lovers of All Ages to Attend a Spring Concert, “Celebration,” on Mother’s Day Sunday, May 8 at 5:00pm

Presented in First Church’s recently renovated sanctuary, this the first of a series of annual concerts produced by Marianne Kim, First Church’s music director. Free and open to the public, guests may contribute to an optional freewill offering whose proceeds will support this concert series. The performance begins at 5:00 pm; a dessert reception follows. Located at 424 Forest Avenue in downtown Glen Ellyn, the church is conveniently located just south of the METRA rail station at the corner of Forest and Duane. The “Celebration” concert features classics by J. S. Bach, Francis Poulenc, L.V. Beethoven, Camille Saint-Saens, Mark Hayes and Claude Bolling Jazz Suite. Vocalist and instrumentalists who will perform include Josie Falbo http://josiefalbo.net, vocal; Haymee Ann, flute; Eun Kim, cello; and Yoonsun Kim, piano; Jon Negus, saxophone; Shawn Somer, bass; Vance Okraszewski, drum and Marianne Kim, piano and organ. “Celebration” will provide a delightful musical experience for music lovers of all ages. 

Marianne Kim, First Church’s music director, is an accompanist, arranger, chamber musician, organist and studio musician. Ms. Kim works in a wide variety of public school, collegiate, church, amateur and professional settings. With a Bachelor’s degree in piano and composition, she performs a broad range of music styles, including classical, standard & fusion jazz, gospel, rock and contemporary church music. Highly skilled in improvisation, she is also familiar with a wide repertoire for solo vocal, choral and instrumental ensembles at all levels.
