Celebrate a Pioneer Christmas at Stacy's Tavern Museum

Friday,November 25, from 6:30 to 8:30 P.M., Stacy's Tavern Museum, 557 Geneva Road, is  an interactive Pioneer experience for guests who
visit during the Glen Ellyn Holiday Walk.  Each room on the first floor of the museum will have activities that will engage the visitor in the celebration of a Pioneer Christmas.
The guests will be guided to the museum from Stacy's Corners Store, where the hosts and hostesses will arrange them into groups.  They will be led to the front door of Stacy's Tavern and turned over to Joanna Stacy, wife of Moses Stacy, the innkeeper.  The parlor is the area for discovering the similarities between Pioneer celebrations at Christmas and the German traditions which were absorbed into the American celebration.  On to the Tap Room where everyone can get  acquainted with some card sharks who are spending the night before they go on to more populated towns and test their gambling skills..
The kitchen cookie baking will be in full swing and the wonderful sweet smells will fill the air.  Guests will have the chance to try their hand at making Christmas cookies with the hired girls, Tillie and Pauline.   The end of their journey is the dining room where the school marm, Mistress Meredith is available to sing carols, tell stories and entertain  with stories about her own one room schoolhouse.
The groups will be guided back to Stacy's Corners Store to enjoy refreshments before they bid farewell  and take part in other Glen Ellyn Holiday Walk
festivities.  For information call 630-469-1867.
