"Beautiful Brahms:" New Philharmonic with Guest Pianist William Wolfram
Award-winning pianist William Wolfram joins New Philharmonic and Kirk Muspratt, NP's Music Director and Conductor for “Beautiful Brahms” the final concert of the NP's 2010-2011 season, Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16 at 8 p.m. at the McAninch Arts Center (MAC) at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn, Ill. The first half of the program will feature Wolfram with the New Philharmonic performing Johannes Brahms’ masterpiece, “Piano Concerto, No. 1, op. 15 in D minor,” a work composed by Brahms in 1858 and comprised of three movements: Maestoso, Adagio and Rondo, Allegro non troppo. For the second half of the program New Philharmonic will perform Brahms’ “Symphony No. 2, op. 73 in D major.” Composed by Brahms in 1877, this work features four movements: Allegro non troppo, Adagio non troppo, Allegretto grazioso (Quasi Andantino) and Allegro con spirit.
