Charlene Baumbich

Local author and raconteur Charlene Baumbich, perhaps best known for her Dear Dorothy series returns to the Glen Ellyn Library to present her new book, Divine Appointments. This book is second in the Snowglobe series which features dogs, snowglobes and second chances. Copies will be available for purchase.
Good Beginnings
Wednesday, 9/22, 10:30 a.m.–11 a.m., in the Youth Study Room
This program is designed for children from birth until 9 months of age. What, you may ask, can be imparted to children that young? Librarians regale the little ones with songs and nursery rhymes while parents hold them and sing along. Good Beginnings is designed just as much for the parents as the kids—it's a great chance for them to share the joys and challenges of parenthood and it gets them out of the house! There's still time to register for one or both of the two sessions left.

Snackery Treats
Wednesday, 9/22 from 4-5 p.m., in the kitchen/lounge on the 3rd floor.
Bells & Whistles Snackery is sponsoring cooking (and eating) sessions for middle and high school students. Wednesday's lesson will feature will be What You Can Make on a Panini Grill.
Gaming for Older Adults
Thursday, 9/23 from 2-4 p.m. in meeting rooms A & B
Who says technology has left seniors behind? Once a month the library offers Wii for seniors, featuring table tennis, basketball, archery and more. Librarian Beth Cusack said, "The seniors like to be in the swing of things and they get quite a workout." No registration is needed, just stop on by.

Making the Most of your Trip to DisneyWorld
Thursday 9/23 from 7-8 p.m. in meeting rooms A & B
Noise, heat, excited kids, whiny kids, long lines and money! A trip like this is a case of "forewarned is forearmed." Travel planner Karen Thompson will be at the library to share her recommendations for holding on to your sanity and ensuring that your Disney experience will be one to be treasured. Karen has the inside scoop on avoiding crowds, finding discount codes and ticket options, choosing a resort and planning your time efficiently.
English Conversation Group
Saturday, 9/25 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in study room C on the 2nd floor.
Not infrequently, people needing English tutors ask us where to go. Literacy Dupage is the organization we recommend and now the tutors are coming directly to the library. Saturday mornings people of all levels of ability in English are welcomed to converse in a small, personalized setting. No registration is needed.
