Powerful winds during overnight storms contributed to power outages throughout the Chicago area.

As of 6 a.m., about 214,000 ComEd customers were still without power in Illinois with 108,000 of those customers in the southern region, 5,200 in the western region, 2,400 in the northern region and 16,800 in Chicago and Maywood, according to the Daily Herald.

Hundreds remained without power in the Aurora area as of 10 a.m., according to the ComEd outage map. Pockets of outages were also still being reported in Warrenville, Glen Ellyn, Naperville and West Chicago.

Plainfield, Romeoville and Bolingborok were also hard hit by power outages, according to ComEd.

ComEd spokeswoman Krissy Posey told the Daily Herald it was unclear when all the power would be stored but added that over 1,000 crews were out working to restore power.
