Players Sought for Chess Tournament Saturday

Players of all ages are welcome to participate in the tournament at Glenbard South High School.

Chess players, looking for a little competition? Want to see if you got game? You have your chance to test your skill and logic this weekend at a tournament being held in Glen Ellyn Saturday.

Players of all ages, young and “young at heart,” are welcome to participate at the Glenbard South Invitational Chess Tournament. The tournament will be held at Glenbard South and is open to students and adults.

Those who wish to participate should submit rosters by Jan. 18, but new registrations will be possible on Jan. 19.

According to organizers, the tournament will include an individual high school open, 6th – 8th grade open, 5th grade and younger open and adults open.  Each of the tournaments is $8 for 5 rounds of 45-minute games.

The entry fee is $60 per high school team and $8 per extra player registered by Jan. 18.  New registrations are $10 on Jan. 19.  Please make checks payable to Glenbard South High School.

Check in for high school students will be from 8 to 8:30 a.m., with the first round starting at 9 a.m. The elementary and junior high check is being held from 9 to 9:30 a.m., with the first round of play beginning at 10 a.m.
