Homeless Artist Finds Inspiration in God and Glen Ellyn

Stever Kott, who makes his street living from his art, will be featured at the Sept. 14 Backyard BBQ Cook-Off in Glen Ellyn.

Twenty-five years after his faith in God helped him kick his alcoholism, artist Stever Kott continues his life of combined roving artist and preacher, and is a frequent sight at First Presbyterian Church of Glen Ellyn, where he was “discovered” by church communications director Beth Cipriano, the Suburban Life reports.

According to the paper, Kott’s art will be featured at a booth at Glen Ellyn’s Backyard BBQ Cook-Off Sept. 14; he makes his living from his work, enough to keep him in an extended-stay hotel in the winter and—he says—perfectly comfortable on the street in the summer.

He continues to find support from First Presbyterian staff, who help find him work and spread the word about his art, the paper said. “I just so much want him to be successful,” Cipriano told the paper.
