Glen Ellyn Man Receives Boy Scouts’ Highest Volunteer Service Award

Pat Kronenwetter of Glen Ellyn received the Boy Scouts’ highest volunteer service award at the Three Fires Council Annual Recognition Dinner held Thurs., June 19 at Hotel Arista at CityGate Center in Naperville. 

“The award symbolizes the commitment and dedication of adult volunteers to the values of Scouting,” said Three Fires Council Scout Executive,

Matt Ackerman. “Silver Beaver Award recipients are the living embodiment of the very best in volunteer service to youth.” 

Kronenwetter’s volunteer achievements include serving on the Council board of directors and as a Scout leader for the West Chicago-chartered Cub Scout Packs 1 and 2 and Glen Ellyn-chartered Boy Scout Troop 352 and Venturing Crew 352. An Eagle Scout, Kronenwetter’s son also became an Eagle Scout.

“I would encourage any parent of a child of the age to get into the Scouting program,” said Kronenwetter. “If I had to do it over, I would have been more involved in Scouting from the time I finished as a Scout until the time my son became involved.”
