From The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County
Nature is sweet at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s Fullersburg Woods Nature Education Center in Oak Brook, and Boy and Girl Scouts are invited to join a special event that’s all about maple syrup.
The program, “Scouts, Get Sticky!,” Feb. 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will show scouts how to make maple syrup from start to finish. They’ll learn about the parts of a tree and the importance of tree sap, hear who first discovered how to make syrup and much more.
Children ages 5 to 17 are welcome to join, and all participants will receive a one-of-a-kind Fullersburg Woods maple syrup patch. The program meets some requirements of the Legacy Tree badge for Cadette Girl Scouts and the Forester badge for Cub Scouts.
The cost to participate in “Scouts, Get Sticky!” is $10 per child, and payment must be made in advance of the program. For more information or to register, call Fullersburg Woods Nature Education Center, 3609 Spring Road in Oak Brook, at 630-850-8112.
