Grace Church Celebrates Friendship Sunday on March 20

 

Grace Lutheran Church, 493 Forest at Pennsylvania Avenue in downtown Glen Ellyn, is planing a special event on Sunday, March 20.  “Friendship Sunday,” is the event title and it will be celebrated at the only  worship service scheduled on that special day.  At 10:00 A.M. the congregation will  welcome friends, neighbors and families who may not have a “church home, ” to join them for worship and refreshments.  Special music  will  be performed at this service by the choir and Grace musicians.  “Worship is focused for the service on God’s welcome and grace that is offered for all people,” stated Grace Pastor Richard Likeness. Children will have a story  lesson before the sermon with Jeremiah, the puppet mascot of the congregation and Pastor Likeness.

Before the 10:00 A.M. worship service on Sunday, March 20, children gather for the regularly scheduled Sunday School and adults can attend an Education class as well.

The Friendship Sunday committee is a combination of long - time members of Grace and newcomers to the church family.  Coordinated by Pastor Likeness, the committee includes Charlie Ortman, Joe Murawski, Ginny Stein, Lois Pertle, Patti Lewis, Jenn Blazek, Michelle Fenske, Jean Derrico, Erin Dieter, Brenda Ciero anf Edna Malo.  During the refreshment and fellowship time following the worship, members and guests will have the chance to get acquainted with all the guests who are visiting.  

 

Former Grace members still in the DuPage area will be welcomed on this special Sunday.  Current Grace members are inviting  acquaintances  and friends to join them in this event.  Interested people can call the Grace Church office, Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:30 A.M. and 12:30 P.M. at 630-469-1555 for information.
