Come Out to Sounds on the Street in Glen Ellyn

We’ve got the best bets for when the work week is over and you're ready to get out. Check our picks for the activities to hit.

1. SOUNDS ON THE STREET
Where/When: 7-10:30 p.m. Friday along Main Street in downtown Glen Ellyn.  
Why Go: To the end of summer, Main Street will close at 5 p.m. for food, drink and a live performance by Butter Side Down.
Pricing: Free.

2. FRENCH MARKET
Where/When: 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at S Main St. & E. Liberty Dr., Wheaton.
Why Go: Flowers, locally grown produce, jewelry, crafts and more are sold at Wheaton's .

3. WIZARD OF OZ THEATRE-HIKE
Where/When: 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at , 4100 Lincoln Ave., Lisle.
Why Go: "The Wizard of Oz" is performed while through the Arboretum grounds. Each theatre-hike presents a different scene at a different location on the Arboretum grounds. Audience members walk to each location to enjoy the unfolding story. Regular hikes, which can cover up to two miles with multiple stops along the way, are on Saturdays, and low-impact hikes (suitable for strollers, walkers and wheelchairs) are on Sundays.
Pricing: $13-$19.

4. FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS
Where/When: 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m-5 p.m. Sunday at , 645 Lenox Rd., Glen Ellyn.
Why Go: The 42nd annual festival includes a juried fine arts show with free live music all weekend. Sponsored by Glen Ellyn Lions Club in partnership with Community Bank of Wheaton/Glen Ellyn. Food and Drink and kids activities. Benefits GE Lions causes to help the deaf and the blind.
Pricing: Free.

5. PAN GO STEEL BAND
Where/When: 3 p.m. Sunday at , 1s151 Winfield Rd., Wheaton.
Why Go: The drum-based band at the First Division Museum.
Pricing: Free.
