Chicago Magazine Names Wheaton One of the Best Places to Live in Suburbs

When it comes to towns with the lowest crime rates, best schools and excellent homes, Wheaton tops Chicago Magazine's recent list of the best suburban places to live.

The editors at Chicago magazine analyzed statistics from Midwest Real Estate Data, the Illinois State Board of Education, the U.S. Census Bureau, and local police departments to come up with two lists, which showcases the 12 best suburbs and 12 best city neighborhoods, according to a Chicago Magazine article.

Wheaton was one of two towns selected by Chicago Magazine as a best place to live in DuPage County while Hinsdale also made the list.

In choosing Wheaton, Chicago Magazine wrote: "The seat of DuPage County is part bedroom community, part college town, part Christian mecca: Wheaton contains a whopping 38 churches."

Chicago Magazine also points to the historic Wheaton Grand Theater, a zoo and "indie coffee shops such as the sublime River City Roasters" as some of the reasons behind selecting Wheaton as one of the best places to live in the suburbs.

Other suburban towns that made Chicago Magazine's list include: Highland Park, Woodstock, La Grange, Geneva, Frankfort, Barrington, Orland Park, Wilmette, Northbrook and Lake Bluff.
