Best of Craigslist: Used Coffin Becomes Wine Cabinet; Life-Sized Yoda Statue

Check out some of the most interesting posts we found for the DuPage County area this week.

The following items and postings were found on Craigslist for the DuPage County area. Note: Patch has no control over the status of these posts on Craigslist and how long they remain available.

Used Coffin Becomes Wine Cabinet

I can’t say it any better than the description: “Our friend died while in England. He was about 6’5” and weighed about 225 pounds. This is the coffin that he was flown home in. It was galvanized lined for shipment… I acquired it and had it lined with formica and turned it into a wine rack. Everything on the outside is original. Top is on the backside. Lighting installed. On rollers for easy moving.” Get it from Elmhurst for $1,500.

Life-Sized Yoda Statue

It’s my understanding that society in general has decided to utterly condemn the Star Wars prequels and try to pretend that they never happened, but one thing I’ll never be able to scrub from my mind is little ol’ Yoda flipping around like a green jumping bean with his lightsaber flailing. Immortalize that indelible image in your own home with this “life-sized” Yoda statue (still kinda small, of course, just 28 inches tall), complete with detachable lightsaber and going for $700 out of Naperville.

Uncannily Realistic Bengal Tiger Rug

Okay, it says it’s faux fur, but are we really sure? The designer of this rug seems to have put quite a bit of effort into making it look like it really was just ripped off of some poor kitty’s hide. That aside, I like the description: “Throw for bed. Whatever.” You can do whatever you like with this striped orange rug for $49 out of Downers Grove.

800 Feet of Orange Fence

Speaking of orange, do you have a major construction project going on? Or perhaps you’d just like to let people know that you are living in the—pause—danger zone? A Westmont seller is offering a whopping 800 feet of various rolls of orange safety fencing, including three rolls of 100 feet each, and throwing in the metal posts as well. Let people know to stay out of, say, over a 250 foot-diameter circle, for $120.

Your Home Movie Theatre, Part I

So maybe you have a swank home theatre in your basement, but is it really complete if you aren’t charging your friends admission? This Naperville seller is offering an eight-foot-tall ticket-taker’s booth, either for stylish décor or to start making a profit off of that awesome theatre. (And it’s a perfect summer job for the kids!) You can get it for $2,000, and then…

Your Home Movie Theatre, Part 2

… pair it with these stylish Art Deco-style theatre seats to keep your guests comfortable. There’s four of them, and the Wheaton seller calls them the “best ones I’ve seen in a long time.” They kind of look like the seating at an old bus station to me, but what do I know about Art Deco? They can be picked up in Wheaton for $130.
