A Friendly Reminder to Set Your Clock

Daylights Saving Time begins at 2 a.m. on Sunday!

Hey Glen Ellyn,

Just a friendly reminder to set your clocks an hour ahead before you go to bed on Saturday. Starting at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 13 we will lose an hour of sleep. Clocks need to be adjusted an hour ahead of schedule to stay in sync with the rest of the country.

Even though you lose an hour, it's not all bad. Remember, this means spring and summer are on the way, which is a great thing. I don't know about you, but I'm more than ready for a little warm weather!

Also, fire departments recommend using daylight savings as a reminder to check and replace the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. It's a helpful way to remember and make sure everyone stays safe.

According to National Geographic, Congress passed the Uniform Time Act in 1966, which made the start and end dates of Daylight Saving Time standard across the country, though it did make an allowance for states to continue to set their own times.
