Victory Gardens Were Important Part of Life During WWI and WWII

Lombard Garden Club members pictured left to right, Lorraine Gluth, Nancy Faragor, guest speaker Kirstin Larson of Knupper’s Garden Center in Palatine, and Clare Tabbert  are inspecting  a basket made up of Victory Garden slogans and posters.  These vegetable gardens kept families in the USA going by providing food for canning, eating fresh produce, and not using imported produce from other countries.  Victory gardens are making a return now that families are interested in good nutrition and home grown food.
The next big project of the Garden Club is the Lilac Sale on May 8, 9, and 10. Call 630-268-7001 for times of the sale.
