Vero Voce School of Performing Arts voice students to perform at Carnegie Hall

(SAINT CHARLES) Vero Voce School of Visual and Performing Arts is pleased to announce that three of its students have been awarded the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall in February 2014. Katelyn Jassoy, 17 (St Charles), Ashley Fritz, 14 (Geneva) and Erin Kingseed, 16, (St Charles), students of Dawn Harkins owner and voice teacher of Vero Voce School of Performing Arts and Theater, were accepted into the High School Honors Performance Series after a rigorous audition process.  They will spend a week studying and rehearsing in New York City before performing with the National Honors Choir before a distinguished audience including representatives from collegiate and professional music programs. Also, honored as first runner up was Timothy Hommowun, 16 (St Charles) for oboe.

The High School Honors Performance Series was established to showcase the finest individual student musicians from North America and abroad in one incredible concert at Carnegie Hall. Each year, selected students experience a five-day program that allows them to study under master conductors, interact with accomplished student musicians, enjoy the excitement of New York City, and ultimately perform at this world-renowned venue. These high-achieving students are chosen through an application and selection process, allowing the most talented and dedicated musicians to take part in this opportunity.

This continues the line of successes with winners and finalists in national and state events including the prestigious Hal Leonard Vocal Competition, NATS Illinois State Competition, various local idol competitions and Summer Music/Musical Theater programs such as Northwestern University and Interlochen.

Vero Voce was established in 2001 specializing in private voice, piano lessons and musical theatre coaching expanded into a 5,000 square foot facility with multiple studios, classrooms, and a theatre at 951 State Avenue, Suite F, in St. Charles. Course offerings include all instruments, voice and theatre classes and a full season of adult musical and non-musical productions and a full season of children’s theatre productions.
