Two Glenbard West Alums are Retiring from Community Consolidated Dist. 89

     Glen Crest Middle School principal, Todd Schrage and seventh grade English teacher, Teri Pehta are retiring at the end of this school year.  What makes them a good story is they both were raised in Glen Ellyn and graduated from Glenbard West High School.  Schrage graduated from college in 1979 and was hired by Community Consolidated School District 89 to teach at Arbor View Elementary School as a fourth grade classroom teacher.  He only taught one year at Arbor View and then came to Glen Crest as a sixth grade science teacher.  He has been a science teacher, team leader, department chair.,summer school principal, assistant principal, energy manager for the district, and policy consultant to the Board of Education.  For years Schrage was the sponsor of the photography club, and guided students through the technical process for all the plays and talent shows the middle school produced.  He received a Masters Degree in educational administration from Northern Illinois University in 1987.  Schrage dedicated his entire 35 year career to District 89 and was an asset to every responsibility he was given. 
     Teri Pehta traveled along a similar career path like Schrage.  She has been on the faculty of Glen Crest for twenty years.  She has always taught seventh grade English at the middle school.  In the beginning of her teaching career, Pehta taught at Glenside Middle School for a total of six years.  Her extra duties during her twenty years have been shared department chairman and Student Union sponsor. 
    Since Pehta lives in Glen Ellyn and Schrage lives in Wheaton, both will be substituting,
volunteering for local education based organizations, and both plan to enjoy outdoor activities.  Each of their spouses attended Glenbard West and their extended families live in the area.  One question can still be asked, “Did they know each other in high school?”
They both have not only given their best to their education careers but they have also been active members of their communities.
