School District 89 Musicians Present a Winter Band Concert December 17


     Tuesday, December 17, Community Consolidated School District 89 bands will present a Winter Concert for friends, families and area residents at Glen Crest Middle School, 725 Sheehan Avenue in Glen Ellyn.  The concert begins at 7:00 PM and takes place in the middle school gymnasium.  Another musical appearance is planned for the District 89 Glen Crest 6th grade Concert Band at Yorktown Centre in Lombard.  The Concert Band is directed by Lev Garbar and they will present their concert from 7:00 to 7:30 PM.  on Monday, December 16.
     The District 89 Band students who will perform on Tues. Dec. 17 at 7:00 PM include students from 5th through 8th grade.  The 7/8 grade Symphonic Band is directed by Katrina Berry and the pieces performed are “Images of Ireland,” “A Holiday Galop,” and The Names Claus, Santa Claus.”  The 6th grade Concert Band will play “Liturgical Fanfare,” “A Salute to the March King,” and “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.”  The 5th grade Beginning Band performs, “Jingle Bells,” “Bugler’s Dream,” and “A Mozart Melody.”  “The Blues at Frog Bottom” and “Ballad for a Blue Horn,” are performed by the Jazz Band.
     An all-school music assembly is planned for Wednesday morning, Dec. 18 at 8:15 AM.  This assembly includes choirs, orchestras and bands.  Call 630-469-5220 for information.
