Janet Gould Memorial Ride Held in Memory of Suburban Woman

My name is David Kizorek and I am a resident of Plainfield, Illinois. Over a year ago, on October 2, 2012, our lives were changed forever.  My mother-in-law, Janet Gould, lost her battle with depression on this day. Janet loved everyone and was loved by everyone that knew her.

It was not one item that triggered her depression or something that happened over night. Yet a slow process that saw a beautiful, smart, loving and caring person slowly withdraw from sight, rarely coming out of her room, even to visit with her closest family.

In the end, she gave no signs of what she was contemplating and left no notes.  She is survived by her husband Al Gould, sons Mike Gould, John Gould, Al Gould Jr. and daughter Maria Kizorek.

Most reside in the Chicago area, with the exception of Al Gould Jr. who lives in Nevada serving in the Air Force.

I wanted to find a way to honor her memory and help others that are battling this illness.  After researching many organizations, I found SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education).

They are a great organization that helps those individuals struggling with depression and those that may have lost a loved one to suicide.

They hold fundraisers throughout the year and were willing to help me plan my webpage and help me raise donations for SAVE.

In an effort to raise more awareness to depression and suicide, I am planning a bicycle trip of a lifetime.  My trip will take me from my hometown of Plainfield, Illinois to my adopted hometown of Lac Du Flambeau, Wisconsin where we vacation.

The entire journey will be approximately 400 miles and take me approximately 5 days to complete. I will be traveling as lite as possible carrying only the basic necessities and camping out.

My goal is to raise $2000 for the Janet Gould Memorial Ride/ SAVE and I will need your help.  You can visit my webpage http://save.donordrive.com/campaign/janetgouldride and use the “sponsor me” tab.  They except credit cards or you can mail them a check payable to SAVE and in the memo area please write Janet Gould Memorial Ride

If you know of someone that suffers from depression, SAVE may be able to help. Their contact information is as follows; SAVE – Suicide Awareness Voices of Education 8120 Penn Ave. S., Suite 470 Bloomington, MN 55431. Phone: (952) 946-7998.  www.save.org.  Thank you for your support!
