More Than 500 People Attend Glen Ellyn Church Launch

More than 500 people attended Community Christian Church’s inaugural Celebration Service at its new Glen Ellyn location on Sunday, October 20 at the Abbington in Glen Ellyn.

“We are still celebrating and thanking God for all that happened this weekend at our Glen Ellyn launch,” said Jon Ferguson, Co-Founder and Network Leader of Community Christian Church.  “While attendance numbers only tell part of the story, we are thrilled that 508 people came for the launch in Glen Ellyn.” Seventy five volunteers were involved in Glen Ellyn’s launch, contributing in everything from hospitality to children’s ministry to the arts.

Brad Prunty, COMMUNITY Glen Ellyn Lead Pastor and founding pastor of The Westline Movement, said, “One person shared with me that she hadn’t been to church in over a decade, and she absolutely loved her experience here.  Another couple raved to me about how much their kids loved their experience in Kid’s City [children’s ministry] and can’t wait to come back.  Feedback like that is really encouraging to hear.”

Ferguson added, “It’s exciting to think that many of these people [who attended the launch] will have the opportunity to find their way back to God over the next few months and eventually join us to reach more people who are far from God and restore God's dream for our communities.”

Even before its official launch, COMMUNITY Glen Ellyn had already begun serving its community by fundraising for Bridge Communities, a transitional housing program for homeless families in DuPage County based in Glen Ellyn.
