LIT Director Invents Library Lotto and Creates Responsible Library Users

How to use the Glen Crest Middle School Library Information Technology Center responsibly was the goal LIT Director Pam McDermott had in mind when she invented Library Lotto.  The reward given to  middle school students who have no overdue fines and no other library issues is the opportunity to play Library Lotto.  Every student who meets the criteria for responsible library use receives a ticket and gets to put their “Lotto” ticket on the wheel.  Prizes reflect the theme for the Library Lotto event.  This time the lotto theme was Mardi Gras and prizes ranged from necklaces, hats, masks and other Mardi Gras
paraphernalia.    Pictured left to right are 8th graders Mike Paprota, Tony Longo, Jack Crouch,  LIT Director McDermott, Cooper Reif, Nick Atkinson, Bianca Lupa, Grace Buckley and Katie King.  McDermott explained, “The kids love playing the game, they love getting the prizes and they are more than willing to follow all the library rules to be included in Library Lotto.”
