Haunting Days Return for the Lombard Jaycees

Lombard, IL – September 23rd, 2013 –The Lombard Jaycees will be kicking off the Halloween season with their 43rd annual Haunted House, this year’s theme: Happy Hell-A-Days. Opening night is Friday, October 11th at 7:00pm. The Lombard Jaycees Haunted House is the longest running haunted house in the country.

The Jaycees return to Yorktown Mall, same location as last year: 356 Yorktown Shopping Center off Highland Avenue, right next to the outside entrance of Lucky Strike Lanes.  Construction for this year’s Haunted House has begun. Volunteers are needed frequently to help build, haunt, sell tickets, spread the word and tear down. The Haunted House is an important fundraiser for the Jaycees as it brings in revenue to purchase food baskets at Thanksgiving and Christmas as well as purchase presents for children at Christmas for families in need in the York Township area.

A few of the special events scheduled for this year’s Haunted House are the FREE Kiddie Matinee and Svengoolie. Kiddie Matinee will be on Saturday, October 26th from Noon to 3pm. Lights will be on and candy will be passed out to all of the kids who walk through the Haunted House. A non-perishable food donation is kindly appreciated. For the first time ever, Svengoolie will be appearing at the Haunted House on Saturday, October 19th from 4pm-6pm. Svengoolie will sign autographs, take pictures and have merchandise available for purchase. During Svengoolie’s appearance, the Lombard Jaycees will have advance admission tickets to the Haunted House on sale at a discounted rate during Svengoolie’s appearance only.

Happy Hell-A-Days will be open from October 11-13; 18-20; 25-27; 29-31 and November 1-2, hours are 7pm-11pm each night. Admission is $10 for everyone 10 years of age and older and $5 for kids 9 years of age and younger. VIP tickets (skip the line) are $15 for everyone 10 and older and $7 for 9 and younger.
