Glen Ellyn Newcomers Club Announces Kathleen Culp Award Recipient and New Executive Board at Annual Dinner

Glen Ellyn, IL (June 12, 2014)   -- The Glen Ellyn Newcomers Club, a social organization founded in 1952 for the purpose of welcoming new residents of Glen Ellyn, has named Hillary Brands as recipient of the Kathleen Culp Award for 2014.

The Kathleen Culp Award, named for the Club’s founder, recognizes individuals who embody a warm and welcoming spirit in Glen Ellyn.  Hillary served on the club executive board as the  corresponding secretary from 2012-2013 and on the board as the reception coordinator from 2013-2014.  In presenting the award, outgoing club vice president Emily Lobdell shared that the many members who nominated Hillary all echoed a similar theme, “Hillary is so welcoming to everyone she meets, has given so much to the club and is so completely deserving of this award.”

As Diana Laufenberg, former club president and last year’s recipient of the Kathleen Culp award, explained, “Hillary exemplifies the warm and welcoming spirit of Newcomers in every way.  She is known as one of the kindest, most caring individuals in Glen Ellyn; everyone in our club knows her because she makes such an effort to welcome and meet as many members as she can.  She is a truly a wonderful person, and we are all very lucky to know her.”
