Glen Crest and the Glen Ellyn Library Celebrate the Arts

Tuesday, night, February 18 between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM, Glen Crest Middle School Art Department, Home Arts Department and Music Department took over the
second floor  at the Glen Ellyn Library to Celebrate the Arts.  The Glen Crest faculty (Rich Stachon, art, Paul Ropp, Katrina Berry, Lev Garbar, Kristi Ditsch, music and Kerry Waters, home arts - tech life) coordinated the evening for the middle school with the help of Christina Keasler, Tween Librarian. The reason for the partnered event is to promote fine arts and show that students’ art work, performing talents, and home arts belongs everywhere in the community.  Life in the community is enriched and enjoyed by everyone through the interaction with the fine arts programs in the schools.          
       Stachon projected a Power Point program of students’ animation projects, exhibited a table of paper mache fantasy animals, and created a gallery of art work with projects that were completed during the school year.
            Waters had nine I-Pads loaded with blogs written by her 7th and 8th grade students that centered on nine Life Skills:  Family, Foods, Fashion, Consumer and Family Service, Bio-technology, Child Care, Health, Science, and Interior Decorating.  Back-Sacks were displayed that were sewn by the 6th graders. 
         The music department at the middle school featured vocal solos, as well as ensembles and solos performed by musicians from the orchestra and band. The Celebration of the Arts was a true interactive arts experience for families and area residents.
