Electricity and Magnetism Theme of Fermilab Education Outreach Visit at Glen Crest

Glen Crest Middle School sixth grade science teachers Denise Olton and Suzanne Hood turned over their morning classrooms to the team of Fermilab Education Outrreach  Scientists on Friday, Oct. 4.  Expanding on the units of electricity and magnetism that the 6th grade science students are studying, engineer Jim Zagel, technical editor Anne Heavey and physicist Lynn Gerren demonstrated the scientific concepts in an interactive method, sharing their  knowledge with the fundementals already learned by the middle school students. Fermilab is located in Batavia, Illinois and their education outreach program provides resources, workshops and classes for science teachers and students. Pictured on the left in the photo is Anne Heavey leading Glen Crest 6th graders through an explanation of the equipment she is working with and Jim Zagel stands ready on the right to answer any questions that arise.
