Dog(s) of the Day!!!

Doc and Wyatt are adorable Chinese Crested Powderpuffs and are about a year old. They were found in a backyard with matted fur and covered in fleas. A rescue angel in Alabama took them in and contacted Casey's Safe Haven. They are SWEET little dogs about 9-12 pounds. They have great personalites and love attention. Because of their previous life, they are both very bonded to each other and must be adopted together.

We had to read up on this breed as they are rare and not often found in need of rescue. This is what we found,

"There are two distinct varieties of the Chinese Crested Dog, the "hairless" and the "powderpuff." The hairless variety is just that: hairless, except for its feet, head and tail. The "powderpuff" has a long, soft coat. The powderpuff variety is a beautiful dog with a full coat of fur and many people do not realize they exist because a lot of websites only show the hairless variety. Powderpuffs need a lot of grooming. The wooly undercoat becomes matted if neglected. These dogs shed little to no hair and are great for allergy sufferers. They are loyal, outgoing, fun loving dogs but do need a leader of their pack. Socialization is important as they can become protective of their owners."
Their adoption fee includes neuter, micro-chipping, adult shots, rabies vaccination, bordetella vaccine, fecal test, deworming, HW test, frontline, HW preventative, 30 days of shelter care insurance, and your first vet visit at one of our participating vets.

Please email Kathy at caseysdogs@yahoo.com to learn more or to fill out an application. We must meet your entire family if you are interested in adopting.
