Community Invited to Glen Crest Don't Let the Fire Burn Out Event

Wednesday, November 20 at 7:00 PM, Glen Crest Middle School,  located at 725 Sheehan Avenue in Glen Ellyn, will be the scene of the FOR CLUB’S (Friends of Rachel)

lluminaria event, “Don’t Let the Fire Burn Out.”  Rachel’s Challenge is a national organization that works toward eliminating bullying, eliminating school violence, and educating young people about eliminating mean-spirited behavior.  The school clubs sponsored by Rachel’s Challenge are called FOR CLUBS.  Glen Crest has been part of this movement for two full years.  Area residents are invited to come to Glen Crest on Wed. Nov. 20 at 7:00 PM and take part in the lighting of a luminaria to honor those who have been impacted by any form of bullying or mean behavior.  The luminaria kits are $1 and include a bag and a glow stick with paper and writing pens to decorate the bags, write a message, or write the names of people who have suffered the consequences of this negative behavior.

At 7:00 PM the participants will have time to decorate or write on the bags and then file into the Glen Crest gymnasium to light their glowing luminaria.  The Glen Crest chorus will sing and there will be a short explanation of the background of the Rachel’s  Challenge organization.  The FOR CLUB members hope that not only Glen Crest families but community members will join them for this meaningful event.
