Village Seeks Public Input Tonight Regarding Glen Ellyn's New Sign Regulations

A way-finding study by The Lakota Group found that residents want traditional, New England-style signs.

The Village of Glen Ellyn will hold a public meeting Wednesday, Sept. 25, at the Glen Ellyn Civic Center, 535 Duane St., to consider proposed changes to the village’s sign regulations.

The meeting will take place at a regular meeting of the Architectural Review Commission, which begins at 7:30 p.m. The sign portion of the meeting is expected to begin at about 8 p.m.

According to village staff, a comprehensive rewrite of the Sign Code is planned with the goal of making it more user-friendly and better aligning the village’s sign regulations with the needs of businesses. The design for the new signs, a part of the Village’s 2009 Downtown Strategic Plan, aims to help drive the local economy. They still are being fine-tuned after a wayfinding study by The Lakota Group found residents want a traditional, New England style for their signage.
