DESCRIPTION:Local Girl Scouts from Glen Ellyn are celebrating 100 years o
 f girls making the world a better place by hosting special events that w
 elcome alumnae\, family and community members to join in the festivities
 . Girl Scouts of South Glen Ellyn Service Unit will be hosting a Promise
  Circle event at Westfield School\, 2S125 Mayfield Lane\, Glen Ellyn.\nJ
 uliette Gordon Low founded Girl Scouting on March 12\, 1912\, in Savanna
 h\, Georgia\, in order to give girls access to unique leadership opportu
 nities that enabled them to contribute to society in meaningful ways. Lo
 w believed girls were as interested in sports\, science\, community serv
 ice and making a difference in the world as boys. The organization quick
 ly grew from 18 original members and now boasts more than 3.2 million gi
 rl and adult members nationwide today.&nbsp\;\nTo honor the memory of th
 e very first Girl Scout meeting\, girls of all ages and adult volunteers
  are hosting special community-based Promise Circles on March 12 at 19:1
 2 military time or 7:12 p.m. Promise Circles will be held in numerous lo
 cations throughout the 245 communities served by Girl Scouts of Greater 
 Chicago and Northwest Indiana.\nWe will start off the evening with a sho
 rt scavenger hunt game for the kids\, participate in a special ceremony.
  Current area Girl Scouts will join together with former Girl Scouts fro
 m every decade to recite the Girl Scout Promise and Law\, followed by th
 e singing of &ldquo\;Make New Friends.&rdquo\;\nThe time of the event is
  from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Cost to attend is $5 per person and includes Commem
 orative Bracelet Patch and Ceremony Flashlight. Advanceregistration is p
