A highlight of the concert will b e a solo of Guilmant&rsquo\;s Morceau Symphonique by intern Connor Frede rick. \;A junior at Batavia High School\, Frederick began the intern ship in January\, and is thrilled both to be part of the band\, and to b e performing this particular piece.&ldquo\;I am very excited to have bee n selected to perform with the band\,&rdquo\; he says. &ldquo\;This is o ne of my favorite pieces to listen to and perform\, and will also be my first solo performance with any ensemble. I hope that I will do well.&rd quo\;Frederick\, who plans to major in Music Education in college and ho pes to someday perform professionally\, recognizes the important part hi s involvement in FVCB will play in reaching that goal.&ldquo\;I recogniz e that this is a rare opportunity\,&rdquo\; he notes. &ldquo\;It gives m e the great experience of performing with mature musicians that share a common goal\, which is making music. I also enjoy working with Colin Hol man\, who is a fantastic musician and conductor.&rdquo\;FVCB is the area &rsquo\;s leading community wind ensemble\, and has grown to a membershi p of more than 80 musicians\, representing nearly 30 communities from th roughout northern Illinois. Its wide-ranging repertoire includes band an d wind ensemble classics\, as well as contemporary works.FVCB&rsquo\;s 2 011-12 season concludes with a final performance at the Norris Center: i ts Spring Concert at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday\, May 6.
