Benedictine University is a Roman Catholic liberal arts university on the southwest edge of Lisle. Founded by the monks of St. Procopius Abbey in 1887, Benedictine University is known for outstanding programs in science, business, health, education and the liberal arts. Through its five colleges, Benedictine provides 56 undergraduate majors and eight adult accelerated programs, 15 graduate programs and 36 graduate certificates, and four doctoral programs.

Students can take advantage of on-campus housing and more than 40 student organizations and clubs to enhance their educational experiences. Students are eligible for scholarships, study abroad opportunities, professional development and adult education.

The University's 108-acre campus features the Kindlon Hall of Learning with a newly-renovated three-story library; the Birck Hall of Science featuring  advanced laboratories; the new $2.5 million Neff Welcome Center;  the recently renovated Rice Center featuring new football locker facilities, an indoor golf center, arena  and an 11,000-square-foot fitness center:  and the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex,  which features a lighted multi-purpose football/soccer stadium with a nine-lane track and lighted baseball and softball fields.

Benedictine University is ranked No. 1 among the country’s fastest-growing campuses between 2000-2010 in the Chronicle of Higher Education’s list of private nonprofit research institutions, and Forbes magazine named Benedictine among "America’s Top Colleges" for the second consecutive year in 2012. Benedictine University’s Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) program is listed by Crain’s Chicago Business as the fifth largest in the Chicago area in 2012.
