While unemployment throughout Illinois has remained mostly unchanged since February, overall 218,500 private sector jobs have been added since January 2010, according to the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
Unemployment rates in Illinois were 9.5 percent in March, a slight decrease over February and slightly higher from the same time in 2012, according to new figures released in late April. In Glen Ellyn, the unemployment rate dropped -0.7 percent in March to 6.2 percent. That is down from 6.9 percent in February and up from 6.1 percent in March 2012. The Illinois Department of Employment Security generally reports unemployment figures for municipalities with populations of 25,000 or more people. The numbers measure unemployment for residents who live in a certain town, not those who work in the town. In July, the downtown dining spot will officially change its name to fire + wine to avoid going to court with a California restaurant.
Seeking to avoid a court battle and keep its focus on the food, Glen Ellyn’s well-known dining establishment flour + wine will soon have a new name. The restaurant, known for its pizza, pasta and, according to diners, consistently good food, will soon change its name to fire + wine. A California restaurant filed a complaint recently claiming ownership of a name similar to flour + wine, according to the owners. To avoid litigation and what might be a long, drawn out court battle the owners will change the name, effective July 1, shortly after its first anniversary. “Since we started this fire on the West coast, we think it’s appropriate to rename ourselves fire + wine,” said flour + wine co-owner Michael Vai. “We can spend the next 18 …
