April Home Sales: Glen Ellyn Sales Slip; Prices Show Moderate Increase
Year-over-year, Glen Ellyn saw a slight decline in the number of homes sold during the month of April. The median home price increased slightly, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors.
The 32 single, detached homes sold in Glen Ellyn during April 2013 represented a -3 percent decline over April 2012, when 33 homes were sold, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe). There were 32 homes sold in Glen Ellyn during March. While the number of homes sold slightly decreased in Glen Ellyn, the median home price showed moderate gains in April. The median price increased 9.6 percent to $342,576 from $312,500 in April 2012. Sales of single-family, detached homes in suburban Chicago increased 33.2 percent in April 2013 compared with the same period a year ago, MORe reported. Sales in DuPage County, were notable, as well. The median sale price for detached homes also increased 5.5 percent from the previous April. …

Countdown Begins As Owners Prep For The Fresh Market's Glen Ellyn Opening
No firm opening date is set, but the store's opening is coming soon, according to company officials.
Glen Ellyn’s newest grocery store, The Fresh Market, is slated to open after the specialty grocer opens its Lincolnshire location in June, according to company officials. A firm opening date has yet to be revealed. In November, the Glen Ellyn Village Board approved the $12 million development, which brings the high-end grocery store to town. “We are excited about our continued expansion in the Midwest, and in Illinois in particular,” Rob Koch, vice president of real estate for The Fresh Market, said in a news release. “We look forward to building on the success of our other Chicago metropolitan area stores, and to providing customers in Glen Ellyn with the same quality products and excellent customer service.” The Fresh Market was founded …

Developer Seeks to Bring New Gas Station, Mini-Mart to Glen Ellyn
The DuPage County Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a public hearing May 23 to review a proposal for a new gas station at the corner of Butterfield Road and Rte. 53.
The DuPage County Zoning Board of Appeals on Wednesday, May 23 will conduct a public hearing to review a proposal to build an auto service station including a mini-mart, car wash and outdoor dining at 22W030 Butterfield Rd. in Glen Ellyn. The developer, who will be represented by Richard McMahon of Buck's Inc. in Rockford, is requesting approval of a planned development to include a gas station, mini-mart, car wash and outdoor dining and variations to allow outdoor displays and additional signage for the business at the intersection of Butterfield Road and Rte. 53, according to a public hearing notice sent Glen Ellyn property owners near the property.
