Green beer is a St. Patrick's Day staple, although not much has been done to quell my concerns about its effect on my gastrointestinal stability.

I'm not Irish. I'm a suburban Detroiter with not even a hint of Irish heritage—a protestant mutt. I never knew a thing about St. Patrick's Day, except that we weren't Irish and therefore, it was just like any other day. I was so jealous of all the other kids who got excited for it.

Then, I moved to Chicago. And the Irish took me in.

Now, in my world, it's the holiday I look forward to the day of the first snowfall. It's not about the green beer—it's about the music, the family, the celebration of people coming together and the beginning of spring.

Where's the best place to celebrate St. Patrick's Day this year? Here are a few options we've come up with. Tell us your favorite!

Muldoon's, Wheaton

Shannon's, Glen Ellyn

Arrowhead Restaurant, Wheaton

Tap House, Glen Ellyn

The Bank, Wheaton
