Finding a parking spot to shop or dine in downtown Glen Ellyn may get a little easier.  

The village will now provide 16-18 three-hour parking spaces in the Schmid's parking lot on Pennsylvania Avenue near North Main Street. 

“This was a win for both the Village of Glen Ellyn and Schmid’s,” said Staci Hulseberg, planning and development director.  “We are excited to expand the parking options in downtown,” Hulseberg said in a statement provided by the Downtown Alliance.

Schmid’s, the former gift shop, recently shuttered its doors after 40 years of service. Now the parking lot will continue to benefit shoppers who frequent nearby business such as, AliKat, Treasure House, Glen Oak Restaurant, Ten Thousand Villages, and the soon to open Cantina.
