Two Charged with Attempted Robbery in Glen Ellyn

A Wheaton woman and Glen Ellyn man were arrested Tuesday.

On Tuesday morning a Glen Ellyn police officer intervened during an attempted robbery in the 300 block of Roosevelt Road.

The sergeant witnessed two individuals try to rob a 49-year-old man while he was walking on the sidewalk near 370 Roosevelt Rd. at 9:30 p.m. When the officer confronted the two individuals they tried to flee in a car. The two were stopped before they could leave the parking lot. 

Thomas D. Simmons, 20, of Glen Ellyn and Diamond S. Odom, 19, of Wheaton, were charged with one count of attempted aggravated robbery and two counts of attempted robbery. The two were transported to DuPage County Jail. According to the police report, Simmons was in possession of an air-soft gun that appeared to be a real handgun.
