Power Restored to All Glen Ellyn Residents

If your power is still out, village officials encourage you to call ComEd immediately.

ComEd tells village officials that power has been restored to the entire village following Sunday's severe thunderstorm.

According to a statement from the Village President via Facebook, Mark Pfefferman tells followers restoration was restored at 4 p.m. Thursday. Nearly 16,400 customers were originally left without power Sunday after a storm whipped through Glen Ellyn leaving many downed wires and trees in its wake.

"Thank you for your patience and understanding. The community truly came together. Even without electricity, Glen Ellyn really shines," writes Pfefferman.

The restoration is ahead of schedule. Yesterday, ComEd expected to have remaining outages online by 11 p.m. This was the fifth day without power for some residents as temperatures topped 100.

If anyone is still out of power, village officials encourage you to contact ComEd immediately at 1.800.Edison1.

Com Ed did a great job in restoring power as fast as possible. Clean up is getting there too BUT I do not think for one moment that the village pulled together. Having the parade and fireworks seemed to be more important then looking out for the welfare of the people in this community. There was no in town cooling center until the library opened its door for it. The fact that COD had it till 11 PM does not count for where elderly, ones with medical issues, etc could spend the night if needed. Nor was there a plan to get people there if need be. No one went door to door to check on people. Carol Stream sent out volunteers to go door to door to check and that is but one example from a larger town then ours. This town needs a plan for the future. We have plenty of park district buildings, senior centers, civic center, etc. With the way the storms seem to be growing this will not be the last. Let's start really helping each other. FBW
